Reflecting Buddha: Images By Contemporary Photographers
An exhibition, auction, and sale benefiting the International Buddhist
Film Festival (IBFF), opens at the San Francisco Arts Commission Gallery
on Wednesday, January 19. There will be a special artists’ reception
and public auction on Friday, January 21 from 6-9 pm.
The show — featuring the work of over 30 photographers —
runs through January 29.
Offering a diverse visual exploration of Buddhist themes, ideas, and imagery,
this unique photographic exhibition is timed to link with the January
28 – February 13 San Francisco run of IBFF after its sold-out events
in LA, DC, and NY. This groundbreaking film festival features screenings,
receptions, a concert with Mickey Hart and friends, and a conference —
over fifty events in seventeen days.
Curator Linda Connor found that support from the artists for this benefit
event was remarkable. Ultimately thirty-one artists generously donated
signed photos, which are all matted and framed. Contributing photographers
include Richard Gere, Lena Herzog, Kenro Izu, Michael Kenna, Wayne Levin
and Steve McCurry.
