The Psychedelic Furs in San Francisco, 2005 The Furs were in constant rotation on my turntable in the early 1980s. I still know probably every word, snarl and riff of every song. When they came to town earlier this year to play an intimate gig at Slim's, I have to admit that I was not expecting that old "Into You Like a Train" wall-of-sound magic. But the night was magical beyond my dreams. The band was hot and tight, and having fun. Richard Butler's voice and delivery never sounded better, and he played to the crowd. And the set list couldn't be beat. It was an incredible gift. Here is a slideshow from that night, along with a nice soundtrack. Cheers! Jim Casper |
