Mois de la Photo Paris 2012
The "Month of Photography" has greatly contributed to make Paris one of the great world capitals of photography. Held every two years, it brings together many important cultural institutions and galleries offering a unique panorama of photographic creations.
Lens Culture is pleased to present a high-resolution slide show of 145 images as a preview of the wonderful abundance in this citywide celebration of photography.
The 17th edition of the Month of Photography will host nearly 80 exhibitions and features three themes:
• Small is beautiful
• Enchanted realities
•
French and French-speaking photographers from 1955 to present
These themes serve a dual purpose: they provide an insight into the richness and diversity of contemporary French photography, and they explore one of the most frequent uses of photography which prevailed from its beginnings until the 1980s — namely small format prints.
As always at the Month of Photography, large-scale shows on broader themes also form part of the program thanks to partnerships with several foreign cultural centers in Paris and a large network of private galleries. For more details, check the website:
