About Agnieszka Stalinska
My photography has been a way to search for my roots and an expression for a non-existing sense of belonging.
As a child of political transformation and familial trauma, I strived to find a place. I assimilated into the new, Western culture so quickly that I lost a sense of self, perhaps one I never had.
Through life’s changes, the one thing that remains constant is the photographic aesthetic. Whether now in Switzerland or back in Poland, the story is the same: the story of the lost 3rd generation of Stalin’s children, through the shapes and patterns of cities and landscapes, of the grey weight of my Polish childhood.
