About alessia greco

I am Alessia Greco (born in 1992) I was born and raised in Sicily (Italy).
I approached the world of photography only a few years ago, starting to attend the photography course at the Academy of Fine Arts in Catania. Before then I had never picked up a reflex camera, but despite my inexperience, thanks to study, practice, and stubbornness, I obtained, in April 2020, a degree in Photography.
During my studies, I have read several times about how photography, since its inception, has been associated with the definition of “representation of reality or truth”. It is precisely this connotation that pushes me to create unsharp, out-of-focus images, which have imperfections and errors. Because after all, real life, the world around us, the human being in itself is not perfect at all.
For me, photography was a kind of therapy through which to bring out those moods that we usually tend to hide. In fact, most of my photographic production consists of self-portraits, which aim to show not only to others but also to myself who I am and what I feel.
