Alexander Nitzsche is a documentary and street photographer. His main interest is to portray urban environments and in particular the public life of people. He believes this work to be an important part of our communal history, considering that increasingly humanity lives in ever-growing cities. He aims to portray these lives as authentically as possible. However, and although his work often straddles a documentary and journalistic approach – he is a journalist by profession – he is not merely interested in capturing events as they take place. Rather, he wants to capture those moments that provide an otherwise perhaps parochial situation with additional emotionality, even though they may be of a poetic or sometimes even absurd character.
