Alexa Vachon is a Canadian born, New York educated, Berlin based photographer and photojournalist who works on assignment for various international publications and on long-term projects focusing on women's rights and human rights.
Vachon graduated from The School of Visuals Arts (New York) in 2002 (BFA in Photography) and recently completed the Postgraduate Class at the Ostkreuzschule (Berlin, DE) under the direction of Robert Lyons (Hartford Art School) and Ute Mahler (Ostkreuz). She is currently taking part in a Master class headed by Ingo Taubhorn (Deichtorhallen, Hamburg, DE) and is a European Journalism Fellow at the Freie University, Berlin. Vachon exhibits her work often including in the groundbreaking Homosexualität_en exhibit at the Deutsches Historisches Museum (German Historical Museum) in Berlin in 2015. In 2016 she was the photographer for an Award of Excellence (Society of News Design, NY) winning multi-media project produced by The Wall Street Journal as well as being a 2014 finalist for a European Journalism Fellowship. She has been featured on the acclaimed television channel Arte and featured in art: Das Kunstmagazine, Germany’s leading art magazine.
