Alexander Thomas (17) is a Philadelphia based photographer, who started his passion for photography in 2015 when he was given the opportunity to take photos with his dad’s Canon. Thomas has always been creative, which fueled his love for photography.
Thomas first discovered his love for graffiti and abandoned buildings after he went to an abandoned power plant. Taking photos of places that haven’t been touched for years amazed Alexander. His love for abandoned buildings led him to a theme that he tries to encompass in all of his work. Alexander likes to photograph these places because they are very exclusive and hard to get to. He loves taking photos of abandoned buildings and the views from rooftops, whether it’s the deck on his house or 45 stories above Central Park.
Alexander has been shooting on his Canon for over 5 years and has been enrolled in a course for two years at the Philadelphia Photo Arts Center, where his work has been shown on their website. He has also been a selected finalist for the National High School Photography Contest at Drexel University, and has been featured in two exhibitions at the Philadelphia Photo Arts Center.
