Alexandra Von Fuerst is a visual artist of Italian and Slovak origins raising awareness on the interconnection between the human body and nature, applying a feminine perspective to address acceptance on the taboos of contemporary social culture. Her work translates through a diverse spectrum of media including photography, video, painting, sculptural installations and writing. Born in 1992, Von Fuerst grew up in Italy, graduating at the University of Communication and Design IED in Milano in 2014. At the end of her studies she dedicated extensive time travelling and researching in various sites across the world, learning about diverse cultures and perspectives on living and psychosomatic healing. Following a background as creative director and photographer within the fashion industry, Von Fuerst is currently invested in an artistic process promoting transparent material sourcing, supporting female empowerment and the preservation of environmental biodiversity through a focus on nutritional ethics. Von Fuerst’s work has been shortlisted for the 2020 Foam Paul Huf Award and exhibited between Europe and United States as part of several group exhibitions. Selected shows include Fotografiska Museum, Tallin and NY; Armani Silos, Milan ; Red Hook Labs Gallery, NY ; Beacon Gallery, Boston ; Leica Gallery, Milan. Her work has been presented in publications including The Ny Times Magazine, Vogue Italia, The British Journal of Photography, Atmos Magazine, South China Morning Post.
