Alice Joiner (b. 1993, UK) is a London-based artist primarily working with photography. Her work presents intimate relationships, mostly between young women, and explores a sense of emergence into their own bodies and sexual beings. The work, which is of a diaristic nature, has been developed from a place of observation and a sense of understanding one’s own body and connection with others. Joiner graduated with a BA (Hons) in Fine Art from the Slade School of Fine Art in 2017 and has held three solo shows, including Loving the Fire at 5th Base Gallery, London, 2018. Her piece Self-Portrait in Red Bath Water, 2017 was selected to be exhibited at The Courtauld Institute of Art, Vernon Square, London, for a Collection exhibition in 2020. Joiner is an ambassador for Girlgaze, an all-female curated platform supporting young women behind the lens and has been featured by the likes of GurlsTalk, Refinery29, i-D and AnOther.
