Born in Dakar, Senegal, my diverse approach has carved a niche suspended between my upbringing in France, the United States, and West Africa.
Through my work I explore my African roots on one hand and my personal experiences on the other. My identity - the person I am today - is based on both qualities: the past (the African culture) and the present (my life in Europe and the US). I yearn for individuals to be reminded that identity does no lie in the hands of history, but rather history lies in the hands of our identities. And today, more than ever before, our identities are a combination of tradition and immigration (whether out of choice or out of necessity) in the reel as well as the virtual world.
