I am an amateur photographer. I have been taking pictures for about ten years, although I have only recently started working on portraits seriously.
Photography is for me a way to bear witness and to tell a story. There is a fragility in every moment that pictures somehow help to fight; in good and bad ways, committing an event to camera gives it weight and gives it shape, that every choice made, from framing to editing, contributes to sediment.
What I hope to convey is the memory of a mood, a smell, a feeling of intimacy or surprise, or the pleasure at some sort of peculiar beauty. I feel increased when I look at photographs from people I admire, and I hope someday to be able to elicit that feeling in somebody else.
