I am a textile specialist, and took many photos (between 1982 and 2014) for publication in a specialized magazine, Textile Forum (I was the publisher). After retiring in 2014, I make photos when traveling, just for fun or for my blog ( on textiles, see above ). This is my first participation in a competition. I publish my photos on flickr since 2007 in order to share them with my Dutch photo friends to keep in contact with the country where I was born.
My intention in making portraits is to capture the magic of a person in a special situation. Sometimes the circumstances are not favorable but I would never redo a photo out of context. I am happy if the capture is as natural as possible. I hope that a spark of the fascination I felt, will be felt by the viewer.
