Belinda Claushuis (1971) is an artist living and working in Amsterdam. Her work is very divers and uses many fields to express herself with. Recently she has put the focus on photography by documenting the island of Madagascar where she, for the second time around, after 12 years, has made a new series of photographs named “ Qua’d-Neuf? ”. She uses double exposure and with this technique indirectly creates subtitles to show the current state that this beautiful country is in. This has resulted into a body of work in which you can see what can happen to a country, after it has been ‘set free’ from colonization and what happens when an underdeveloped country is not receiving the right and proper guidelines that it is so in need of.
