Ben Altman (b. 1953) trained as an artist by studying Physics, towing icebergs, racing sailboats, and working in commercial photography. A naturalized U.S. citizen of British origin, his work explores intersections of history, politics, home, and the contemporary world. He works with photographs, installation, video, and participation.
Ben Altman's work has been shown across the United States and in the UK, Poland, Israel, and China. His work was selected for the Houston Center for Photography’s 2015 Fellowship, the 2015 Critical Mass Top 50, and for other awards and grants. He has exhibited recently at the Pingyao International Photography Festival; Photo Is:rael; Cambridge University, U.K., Light Work in Syracuse, NY; the Kopeikin Gallery, Los Angeles, CA; the Dowd Gallery, State University of New York at Cortland; the Handwerker Gallery at Ithaca College, NY; and the Sol Mednick Gallery, University of the Arts, Philadelphia, PA.
