I am an amateur photographer, filmmaker and story writer. Photography and filmmaking are really just additional ways of telling stories.
Although a beautiful landscape is a joy to photograph or film, for me, it is not until there is a person in the image that it becomes a story. When that person is unaware of the camera, or successfully ignores it and displays their unique, human grace, then the photo or film become a compelling story.
Writing stories and capturing images of daily life help me understand people better as well as my own place in the real world. I search for unusual, paradoxical and ironic subjects to capture well and reveal their essence authentically via words and images.
I am heavily involved in social justice movements and environmental action. My photography is essentially documentary.
