Bob Modersohn is a freelance photographer based in Lansing, Iowa, following a long career as a staff shooter/reporter for The Des Moines Register. Modersohn’s photographic work at the Register won the National Press Photographers Association’s Photographer of the Year Runner-up Award twice. As a finalist for a Pulitzer Prize in the feature photography category, jurors called his work "unusual." He was nominated six times for that award during his newspaper career. Recently, one of Modersohn’s black and white photo sequences was accepted for exhibition by the Center for Fine Art Photography in Fort Collins, Colorado. He’s been published in The New York Times, Washington Post, Sunday Chicago Tribune, People, Columbia Journalism Review and other publications. When not on assignment, Modersohn, or "Mode," as his friends call him, shoots life and landscapes in the Driftless Area of the Upper Mississippi River Valley.
