Bruce Charles is originally from Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He first picked up a camera over 20 years ago while attending classes in the Commercial Art program at Milwaukee Area Technical College. It was the program-required “Introduction to Photography” class that actually started him on his journey and changed the way he viewed the world forever. After being introduced to the works of LIFE Magazine photographers W. Eugene Smith, Gordon Parks and Margaret Bourke-White, as well as street photographers Robert Frank, Garry Winogrand and Joel Meyerowitz, Bruce was overwhelmed with inspiration and began a journey of documentation and discovery that continues with passion to this day. Most recently his work has evolved into a love affair with the people, places and things that inhabit the great city of Phoenix, Arizona where Bruce has been a resident for the last 14 years.
