Originally from the Los Angeles area, I’ve been living in Taiwan for almost two decades. For most of that time I was busy with babies, homeschooling, and working from home as a writing coach, but then something extraordinary happened: I was given an old, unwanted camera. I fell in love with photography immediately. The camera became a tool for me to create something new out of the raw materials of my life as I was living it.
Photography encourages me to be mindful and present as I go about my day, but I’m not interested in depicting an exact replica of reality in my work. I enjoy using candid moments from everyday life as the foundation for my images, but then enjoy escaping into other elements such as motion, color, or light. This approach allows me to see familiar places in a new way.
