Born 1956; raised near and in the National Gallery in DC; painting since 1964, printmaking 1971, photography 1974. Photographic silkscreen techniques learned in industrial shop in LA, 1975. Went all digital in 2005.
BA 1978, fine arts, printmaking, Haverford College, Haverford PA.
MFA 1989, printmaking, California College of the Arts, Oakland CA.
I’ve built and used nine studios/darkrooms. Now I work at the intersection of printmaking and photography on a Mac and large format Epson.
I moved to rural Georgia from San Francisco in 2012. I doubt I’d have begun this contemplative work if I had remained in San Francisco. And if I didn't live across the road from a graveyard so old that rough, uncarved stones marking graves are lost in the trees.
