I have been taking pictures off an on for 30 years but the main focus of my photography has been in the past 5 years since I left my office job to take a mid-life retirement for a few years. The time spent away from work has been filled with travel and creativity. Most of my previous photography experience was a Canon film camera, then a couple of Canon DSLRs. All DSLR camera bodies and lenses were sold and a Sony RX100 pocket camera was purchased. This is much easier for portability and travel and has allowed me to learn and re-learn photo techniques and camera settings. I have taken the heavy camera gear out of the equation and it has really helped my creativity by having a small camera with me every time I am away from home. I find a wide variety of photographic styles interesting from macro, minimal, abstract, landscape and travel. I am still learning a lot about photography and trying new things every week.
