Wisconsin based photographer, Cindy Hansen, has been honing her skills in staged self-portrait photography since 2018. Unleashing her inner child and wild imagination, she has produced the Imagine Me series as well as The Feminist Mystique project. Self-taught, Cindy works alone doing all the costuming, makeup and backgrounds. At times, her husband assists with the shutter, pose adjustments and as a model. Her work is influenced by photographers such as Cindy Sherman, Patty Carroll and Claude Cahun. She has received awards from MIFA in Moscow, FotoNostrum in Barcelona, PhotoMidwest and the Coalition of Photographic Arts. Aside from Russia and Spain, her photography has been exhibited in galleries around Wisconsin, the Woman Made Gallery in Chicago, and the Midwest Center for Photography in Wichita, KS.
