During my career I mainly worked as an editorial and portrait photographer. Recently there is more opportunity for free work.
I have always envied painters and draftsmen who use elements from reality to compose a characteristic image. Thanks to available techniques, I can also apply this method to the photographic image. I am deeply fascinated by life in the city. I like to photograph in the public space. Street photographers usually work very dynamic, agile. Not me. I put my camera on a tripod, set and adjust it. Then I am at the same spot for an hour or so, with the remote control in my hand. The passers-by, the audience, are my actors. The urban backdrop forms the setting for what I often experience as a form of theater. The theme of every picture often arises when I have looked over and over again the hundreds of shots that I made at a specific location. I select specific elements of a choice of exposures to create a new characteristic reality.
