Cole Davis was born in Spring, Texas and raised in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. After studying philosophy at LSU for a few years, he left university to photograph the home state he’d never seen in Oh Louisiana - enabling him to study at the International Center of Photography on scholarship. He spent a week on a shrimp boat for Cajun Trawl before departing for NYC. While studying in New York, he moved to Brownsville, Brooklyn to document the “Murder Capital of New York” after the tragic loss of Timi Oyebola, a 16 year old who was shot by a 14 year old. The work culminated in the series The Shadow of Timi Oyebola. Cole is currently living and working in New York.
