UNSTUCK Photography Grant

Welcome to year 2 of UNSTUCK!

In continuing in the footsteps of year 1 and helping those who are struggling to bring to completion their projects. Well, there is good news for you and we are pleased to help you get UNSTUCK and move your project forward.

UNSTUCK is aimed at helping you realize your vision. Magenta Foundation in partnership with visual artist Jean-François Bouchard, is offering a production grant to get your project to the finish line.

We are calling upon ALL lens-based practitioners; those working with mixed media and those with a formal and traditional approach.

Applicants are encouraged to submit a story, rather than singles, as part of the grant application. This new opportunity aims to target the creation of works in progress and bring them to realization. We are looking for projects which are already in the development phase that will benefit from financial resources.

A total of $10,000 CAD will be awarded.
1st Place: $5000 CAD
2nd Place: $3000 CAD
3rd Place: $2000 CAD

This is an all Inclusive International Call for Submissions.

Applications begin May 11th, 2022 and end August 4th, 2022. The final results will be announced in October 2022, at unstuckphoto.com

Judging Criteria

We are looking for career based photographers, who have a personal body of work in progress that needs support to bring the project to fruition.

As an artist you must have at least 5 years of working and exhibition experience. Your CV will determine your eligibility.

We would like to see original bodies of work, cohesively telling a narrative or story. This work could have been started before the pandemic and became stuck because assistance was no longer available. However, pandemic related work is not part of this grant platform.

This grant is about supporting photographers who need HELP to finish their project and will NOT be awarded towards the creation of a new project.

You will be allowed 12 uploads: 10 images + 2 PDFs. Submissions should include:

  1. A series of up to 10 images
  2. Your CV (1 PDF submitted with your images)
  3. Your Project Details (1 PDF submitted with your images). You must include the following:
  • An overview of your project (max. 500 words)
  • Tell us what stage this project is at and what you need to move ahead.
  • Do tell us how would this opportunity be transformative for your project that is stuck. (max. 500 words)

If you’re not sure how to upload the PDFs please watch this short video.
