CPA 2020 Members’ Juried Exhibition

Winners will be announced in March 2020


The Center for Photographic Art (CPA) is excited to announce the 2020 Members’ Juried Exhibition! This year we are offering $2000 in awards. New or current CPA members working in all still two-dimensional photographic media are welcome to enter. There is no theme; any two-dimensional subject matter is eligible.


Submission period: January 8 through February 21, 2020, 11:59pm EST

Eligibility and Entry Fees
To enter, you must be a CPA member. The entry fee is only $25 for the first image and additional entries are encouraged.

Note: Non CPA members will be disqualified from the competition.

Jurying, Awards and Exhibitions
Forty five images selected by the jurors will be exhibited in the historic CPA gallery in Carmel, CA, and featured in an online gallery on the CPA website. Up to an additional forty five images will be selected for the online gallery.

All selected gallery and online images will be published in the 2020 Members’ Juried Exhibition catalog, available for sale during the exhibition and online afterward.

Exhibition dates: April 11 – May 10, 2020. Exhibition opening reception is April 18, 5:00 - 7:00 pm PST

The jurors will grant the following awards:
Best of show: $1000
2nd place: $500
3rd place: $250
5 Honorable mentions: $50

Your personal information and image data will be our only source of information. Be certain that your name, titles, dates, dimensions, sales prices, and medium (archival pigment, platinum, silver gelatin, etc.) are accurate and entered in the "image description" box when you submit your project. You MUST title each image; "Untitled" is not allowed.

Notification and Submission of Artwork: All entrants will be notified of the results via automated email after March 1, 2020. Check your spam or junk folders for this notice.

For invited gallery artists ONLY (online artists do not send artwork) artwork must arrive at CPA no later than Wednesday, April 1, 2020. Work delivered after this date will not be exhibited.


Jurors:


Laura Sackett is Creative Director and partner in LensCulture, one of the leading online destinations committed to discovering and promoting the best in the global contemporary photography. She has lead all aspects of design including brand, website, print, communications, screenings and exhibitions. Besides leading the creative direction for LensCulture, she also co-curates LensCulture exhibitions, the online galleries and is a frequent reviewer at Portfolio Reviews.

She is a founding Board Member of PhotoAlliance, and earned an MFA in photography from the California College of the Arts. She currently lives in Berkeley, CA.

Ann M. Jastrab is the Executive Director at the Center for Photographic Art (CPA) in Carmel, California. Before coming onboard at CPA, she was the gallery manager at Scott Nichols Gallery in San Francisco where she incorporated contemporary artists with the living legends of photography. Ann also worked as the gallery director at RayKo Photo Center in San Francisco for 10 years until their closure in 2017.

Besides being a curator, Ann Jastrab, MFA, is a fine art photographer, master darkroom printer, and teacher as well.

Submission details

To enter, you must be a CPA member. The entry fee is $25 for the first image and additional entries are encouraged.

1920 pixels on the longest side, resolution set at 300 dpi - RGB or Gray Scale, Unlocked files.

Profile: AdobeRGB(1998). Save file as an 8 bit JPEG.

Submissions must be print ready.

Note: Please put all information relevant to your submission in the "Image Description" box (date, size, medium, price, etc) and remove any visible names, titles, watermarks, etc.
