I've been creating photographic images for over 40 years, starting at around eight years old with an Ilford Instamatic that took 126 cartridge film. I progressed to a "proper" camera by ten (a Yashica Electro 35). When I got into processing and printing in the darkroom, I was hooked! Once I finished school, I decided to get a degree in Illustrative Photography from RMIT. I've owned and shot in a multitude of formats from the micro (Minox) to large format (4x5 view cameras).
Having been trained as a commercial photographer, I am now embarking on a new journey as a fine-art photographer. This change has been somewhat of a challenge for me as the final image is no longer about technical qualities but rather about the emotional impact, it gives a viewer. Part of this journey is to extend my vision and thinking and to bring more heart into my images, by exploring new and old photographic processes, techniques and equipment.
