David Weyand, born 1978, is a German photojournalist based in Berlin. He studied political science at Free University Berlin and went to Zeitenspiegel Reportageschule, a journalist school in south Germany.
Since 2011 he has been reporting from various countries around the world (e.g. China, Bangladesh, Haiti, India, Lebanon). Thereby he is emphasizing on stories about social-economic, environmental and development topics.
Originally, Weyand started working as a writer, who occasionally took pictures. In the recent years he has been focusing on photography and photojournalism more and more. His pictures are published frequently in German print and online media.
He was also the photographer of the non-fiction book “With the heart of a tigress” published by Random House in December 2015 and contributed to the non-fiction book “Letting-Go” released in March 2017. Both written by Katharina Finke.
