My work is a specific Surrealism I invented over the past 10 years as a result of using the tools and mistakes of the digital age. And rather than the kind of works that blur reality, my images are real. They are everyday objects that have assembled in a way that makes the result…interesting. Surrealism defined by Breton used automatic writing. I have updated it to use autocorrect: the wonderful readjustment of real words into phrases of surprising humor and beauty.
My work comprises digital collage, drawing, iPad paint apps, personal files of reference images and old photos abandoned by their families..The found photos are the most important component as they add an "everyman” element just like putting a person in vacation shot says "I was there". By using these lost folks they have a chance to reinvent their lives as “characters” in my tales.
