Desirée Pfeiffer, born in New York, is a portrait and fine-art photographer. She obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Photography from the Academy of Art University in San Francisco in 2004. Shortly thereafter she moved to London and began assisting, shooting for various magazines, while also concentrating on personal projects. She has returned to San Francisco where she is working on a new series.
Her images tell a story or, at the very least, permit the viewer to imagine a greater scenario beyond the image itself. Voyeuristic in a sense, she tries to create images that give the viewer the sense that within the image there is a back-story. Individuals, their actions, and surroundings are carefully selected. They become a character in a story much larger than themselves. Many of her photographs represent moments of introspection; those times we believe to be unseen and private. Capturing those moments, for her, brings out the true essence of people and provides insight into our lives that we keep hidden.
