Dimo Dimov is a visual artist and photographer based in Sofia, Bulgaria. He explores the formation of abstract concepts and ideas through the interrelation between personal memories and the surrounding reality.
Dimo had gone through various life challenges being forced to drop out of school and start working to support himself and his family. Low-skilled and underpaid jobs had been his options to make a living. But the search for knowledge made him attend evening high school while working full time during the day. Later on Dimo got bachelor and master degrees and consequently obtained a PhD in Russian literature.
From the perspective of his various educational and life experiences, and using literary research as a point of departure, Dimo strives to expand the textual space into imagery concepts and expose his inner perception of spatial objects through visual expression.
Dimo’s project ‘Dust’ was shortlisted for Felix Schoeller Photo Award 2017.
