Edward Boches is a former award-winning advertising writer and creative director turned professor. In recent years, confronting a need to create again (not just teach) and a desire to better understand the obstacles and frustrations his students were experiencing as beginners striving to master their newly chosen creative fields, he took up photography. He quickly found himself drawn to documentary work that explored how people live, work and play.
In the last year, inspired further by an economic and political climate that exaggerates differences and emphasizes divisiveness, he has found himself drawn more and more to the kinds of places and activities that bring people together, whether that be urban skate parks, county fairs, or the communities that develop around urban boxing gyms.
