About Edward Tran

My photographs present the beauty of a person while the essence is captured with attention to details. Growing up in an artistic family in Vietnam, I was surrounded by sculptures and paintings. As a result, they have had a huge influence on the way I develop my own photographic techniques. By referencing romanticism, Renaissance art, and symbolism, my portraits are often created with a DSLR camera to capture the classic and timelessness.

My photographic work is part of the collective memory of self-expression and desires. By capturing the movement of humans in an act as portraiture, I reveal an inseparable relationship between motions and emotions. With a subtle minimalistic approach, I want to make portraits that give a sense of romance, authenticity, empowerment while tastefully showing the subject’s vulnerability. However, my photograph never shows a complete structure as I would like the viewers to imagine the rest with their own interpretation.
