Ekaterina Gosparovich was born on the island of Sakhalin, in the Russian Far East, in 1978. After graduating from art school in her home town of Korsakov, she traveled nine time zones to begin her study of journalism at Moscow State University. When she graduated in 2002, she was the first in her family to do so. For the next decade, Gosparovich lived and worked in Moscow, supporting herself and her young daughter. In 2012, she moved to New York City, and it is there that she discovered her passion for film photography when a friend introduced her to a 120 film Yashica. She currently lives and works in Woodstock, NY.
