As an architect and urban planner, one of my main interest is street photography, focusing on the urban environments and people in the streets. The other is studying nature as if it was a study of shape and composition.
This last year I have focused more on nature both because I needed it during the pandemic and because I felt uncomfortable trying to capture the urban life that is more tense and at the same time empty.
In this series the stone photos are from the islands Hvaler outside of Oslo where I am lucky to have a cottage. I have worked for a couple of years to capture these soft shapes in different light and weather. Macro photographing the plants in the botanical garden has been my corona project this winter., and it has given me a lot of joy. There is a very sparse light in the winter in Oslo, this some extra possibilities and challenges. Focusing on the small life corresponded well with my own life during the pandemic, when normal life is on hold.
