Fiona Aboud is from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil but works and lives in New York.
Her work has been exhibited on 4 continents. Most notably her work has been shown at the Library of Congress, Gallery 138 and Viridian Gallery in New York City. Her project on Amputee Soccer players in Sierra Leone inspired the making of the documentary “The Flying Stars.” Her creation of "Sikh Captain America" and the photographs from this series are going to be exhibited at the Wing Luke Museum in Seattle in May 2018.
Her current work is about our perceptions of ourselves and the world around us, and how mental or visual obstructions change the way we see. She uses natural elements such as water and fire to abstract and to help create the decisive moment in her work.
