Francis Macchiagodena is a visual artist based in Montreal, who completed his BFA in Photography and is currently pursuing an MFA in Photography, both at Concordia University. His work deals with notions of abstraction, truth, and phenomenology. Through Photography he develops an intimate method of understanding the human senses and their relationship to the material experience of temporal space. His work considers the photographic medium as an interrogation of the tension in distance, tactility and forms of matter as visual and tangible injunctions in perception. He was a finalist for the Scotiabank 2018 New Generation Photography Award and has exhibited his work in institutions including La Castiglione gallery, Lilian Rodriguez Gallery, MAI Gallery, and the Montreal Museum of Fine Art’s Jean-Noël Desmarais Pavilion.
