Location:London, United Kingdom
My education is quite eclectic with few years at a conservatory and a master degree in architectural engineering. From music to architecture, Goethe used to say that these are closely related. I learned photography from Bruce Gilden, who completely undid my self esteem, allowing to reconstruct a new me, from scratch. I owe him. And I also owe to Matt Stuart who has shared his views on Saul Leiter, proving the power of using empty spaces, visual voids and layers. For the rest I collect books and use these as reference and to learn what others are up to. My favourite photographers are the best that one can think of, the list is endless. From them Koudelka, Gardin, Basilico, Kolar, Klein, Moriyama, Gilden and Brandt. I love their images.
Lighting designer by profession and enamoured with photography, I have been shooting streets through London since 2012. Soho, Oxford Street, Caledonian Road, Camden Lock, Trafalgar Square, Brick Lane, are the backdrops to my images. I love flash and a sharp contrasty light is my passion. I love people, their random interactions, gestures, all small details, imperfection, nails, hands, shoes, textures, eyes, their skin. I love German expressionism, its atmosphere, the grotesque, a sense of sadness, together despair and excitement.
Like Blake wrote,
I wander thro' each charter'd street,
Near where the charter'd Thames does flow.
And mark in every face I meet
Marks of weakness, marks of woe.
A selection of my work has been exhibited in Riga at the Noass gallery in 2017.
I do not have an internet presence, or social media account, but was published on the Leica Blog in 2017/2018.
