I have been photographing people, places, and things for about three decades. Canadian born, I arrived in Hong Kong by the way of Japan, where I lived for several years and to which I continue to have strong ties. That experience, among others, gave me a sensitivity for form and detail which I try to make apparent in all of my work. For more than a decade, I have been working on an in-depth photo essay documenting the work of traditional swordsmith, Takami Kuniichi. Most recently, I provided the photography for a book on Neolithic Chinese pottery. Four years in the making, it was published late last year. I believe that my photography has greatly influenced the way I look at the world around me and the people and objects in it, even when I am not photographing them.
