Goran Turnšek (1978) was born in former Yugoslavia, now Slovenia. He studied modern dance at Academy of Theater and Dance in Amsterdam. He danced for Krisztina de Châtel, Piet Rogie, Nicole Beutler and has collaborated with Marina Abramović and Aziz Bekkaoui. After his dance career he created dance choreographies and developed an interest in the relationship between performance and photography which he explored during further studies at the Fotoacademie Amsterdam. In 2015 he graduated with the project ‘Jakob’ under supervision of Ellen Sanders and Nicole Segers. Goran has won dance prizes and was shortlisted by various photography awards such as Unseen Dummy Award and Selection of Dutch photography. His work has been published in the British Journal of Photography, Volkskrant magazine, Fotodigi and Photocaptionist, among others.
