Gwenola de Muralt was born in Finistère – the « far end of the world” Her father, a mariner, has sailed all the seas of the globe. In 1967 he took his family to live on the Ivory Coast, then further south to Gabon. For Gwenola, childhood there was a taste of unbridled liberty. Africa has marked her for ever, with its perfumes, music and the red ochre earth that she found again in the deserts of the American West, another landscape engraved on her memory.
