Heather M. Schmaedeke is a professionally trained photographer whose work appears in collections and exhibits nationally and internationally. Her work has been published in print as well as digitally. Most recently her photography series “A Long Day’s Journey” for the 24 Hour Fotomarathon Berlin, won second place in the 24 hour digital photography category. Another photograph was included in the Stories Group exhibit in Budapest, Hungary. The book Arabische Welt, published by the Berlin Academy of Art features two of her photographs of the dancer Amira Chelbi. Solrevolution, a book about alternative forms of energy, published in Sweden features a photograph of software and mechanical engineer Eden Full.
Heather approaches each new photograph with a fresh perspective; her goal is to transport the viewer to the places or events that she photographs. Her portfolio reflects the depth and diversity of her subjects and interests. Traveling has afforded Heather the opportunity to document people and places from Bulgaria to Korea. A versatile photographer, she absorbs the environment and adapts her eye to each new situation.
