I live and work in Berlin.
I studied photography and earned my master’s degree at Chung-Ang University in Seoul, Korea. During that time, I began working in fashion photography and started my artistic practice.
Working in both fields, I began to ask what it really means to work with this medium—and what a photographer actually does. That question led to my artistic practice.
I’m interested in what photography can—and cannot—reveal. We understand the world through what we see, but often see only what we already know or believe. This tension between seeing and thinking relates to how photography shapes perception in contemporary life. I also focus on how images form meaning beyond language.
Moving from Korea to Germany, I often find myself between two perspectives—different ways of seeing, understanding, and structuring the world. That in-between space became an important part of my work.
I have recently been selected for ‘The Ties That Bind’, Guest Room curated by Der Greif (2025). I’ve held solo exhibitions including Based on a True Story (GoEun Museum of Photography, Seoul, 2016), Photograph, Studio and Deception (Gallery Factory, Seoul, 2016), and Distortion (Total Museum of Art, Seoul, 2014). Group shows include Annyeonghaseyo (Buk-Seoul Museum of Art, Seoul, 2017) and New Generation (The Museum of Photography, Seoul, 2014). International group shows include New Generation – SIZAK (Łaźnia 2, Gdańsk, 2016) and JIGEUM (PhotoIreland Festival, Dublin, 2015).
