Irina Klimova is a contemporary art photographer. She was born in Irkutsk, Russia, and currently lives and works between Russia and Turkey.
In her artistic practice, Irina explores the relationship between people and landscape as interconnected parts of a single world. Working with both portraiture and landscape, she believes that contemporary individuals are just as worthy of artistic representation, and that nature itself is already art: drifting clouds and shimmering waves are finished compositions waiting to be seen and captured. She considers her mission to bring a sense of happiness and freedom through her work, so that each viewer may feel the touch of the wind and a harmony with the surrounding environment.
Irina’s works have been presented in international group exhibitions in Russia, the United States, and China, including projects focused on the female gaze, corporeality, identity, and social sensitivity.
She is currently working on a long-term project titled “City of Beautiful People”, which aims to portray city residents as heroes worthy of an artistic gaze. By placing portraits of citizens in public spaces, the artist seeks to restore a sense of personal value, beauty, and belonging to place.
