About Ismin Berik

I am a black-and-white photographer based in Kazakhstan. My work focuses on quiet moments, emotions, and human presence. I try to capture what is often unnoticed — silence, distance, and small details that reveal inner states.

I work in black and white to keep the image honest and focused. Without color, I pay more attention to light, shadow, texture, and composition. This helps me create images that feel calm, intimate, and thoughtful.

I am inspired by cinema and visual storytelling, especially the work of Alejandro Chavez, whose use of light and atmosphere influences how I see and frame my photographs. Photography, for me, is a way to observe, reflect, and tell stories quietly.
