Jose Alfredo Garza is an emergent photographer born in Mexico City in 1974. He is a civil engineer with postgraduate studies in systems and planning theory. In the field of photography, he holds a two-year diploma in photography from the Academy of Visual Arts (AAVI) (2015) and a one-year diploma in lighting techniques from Gimnasio de Arte (2016), along a one-year diploma from PHotoEspaña (photography master programme: Theories and Artistic Projects). In 2017 his photobook Schatten was awarded by the Academy of Visual Arts.
José Alfredo likes to see and recognizes his work as an integral part of his introspective process and as a reflection of his own experiences and feelings; his personal work relates to the exploration of everyday space and the body, textures and shapes, as a means of recognition of his mood and personal experiences.
