About Jake Yulo

I am a senior Studio Art major in my last semester at Whitman College. For my thesis work I have challenged myself to work extensively with studio lighting and develop my own consistent style. The content of the final project will likely be exploring masculinity for those in the campus community that use he/him pronouns and will be displayed in the Sheehan Gallery in May. I'm interested in fashion photography being displayed in a fine-art space, as well as incorporating elements of journalism with interviews and potential audio or text to accompany prints or projections of my work. Some of my inspirations for this project are Robert Mapplethorpe, Irving Penn, and Richard Avedon.
