James Ozawa,1987. Portrait photographer / printer (analog).
Born in Australia and moved to Japan at the age of 5. Currently based in Tokyo.
I started my career originally as a digital based commercial photographer in 2010, after studying the basics under two Japanese photographers(Gorta Yuuki, Gaku Yamaya) for 18 months.
I worked for a Japanese magazine publisher(Medium inc.) with an exclusive contract from 2011, which mainly included fashion, still life, and food photography, then later became a freelancer in 2013.
In 2016, I left the field of commercial and flew to Australia, started working on a personal project to prove to myself that love, and other likewise invisible aspects/information, may not be converted into digital data but can be captured and burnt onto a film, and shared directly through the eye when its enlarged and printed.
After a year in Australia, in 2017 I returned to Japan and held my first solo exhibition in Tokyo.
