Jan Cook of Portland OR works with alternative photography and mixed media processes. She lived and worked in Mexico for two years and later traveled a lot in that region; this has had a big influence on her imagery. Her recent portraits are a combination of photographic reality and fabrication created by using traditional darkroom techniques in unconventional ways.
Jan has exhibited in the US and Mexico. Recently, she has shown at Gallery 1/1 and Gallery 110 in Seattle, was published in Diffusion Magazine and received a Regional Arts and Council Professional Development Grant.
She received her BFA in photography from the University of Washington. You can see more of her work at www.jancook.com.
