Looking out for something.
Everything is constantly changing, including rhythm and chaos.
Jef Schrijvers has been fighting, playing and living with the medium of photography for a long time.
Photographing is searching. Exploring. Has he been looking for peace or quiet in the everlasting chaos? Is he searching for order in disarray?
Everything changes. The notion is familiar. Plato, Aristoteles and Heraclitus already described it.
But there are elements that seem to outlast the ravages of time. Elements that seem able to resist the change that time brings.
Jef assumes that his personal desire to order and shape the ever-changing reality are the most important incentives to create his photographic images.
He wanders around with his camera. Sometimes on the road to make photographs. Most of the time an action between other daily actions.
He observes and if that observation takes the right shape through the lens of his camera, he reacts.
Watching closely, one might say that he already did that when he was 15 years old.
Wandering, getting lost in the city.
